  •    1,2,3,Grow/First Smiles- Integrated, Family Resource Center-based programs for families of children 0-5 years in the Camptonville area. Services are focused through the "1,2,3 Grow" early childhood enrichment and kindergarten readiness program. Contract through June 2012.

  • First Smiles-has developed a grassroots prevention program designed to address dental decay in young children from a community based approach.  This county-wide project provides community trainings and individual implementation program support.  Contract through December 2009.   • Baby Buddies Birth Center- Provides equipment and start-up funding for a birth center at Harmony Health. Contract through June 2010.

  • Baby Buddies Home Visiting Program- focuses on pregnant moms and infants 0-3 years old. We offer case management to include linking clients to a medical home; classes for prenatal and childbirth education; preventive health, dental care and immunizations; breastfeeding support and education; insurance; a free car seat with installation and safety education.   • Child Development Behavioral Specialist Services (CDBS) -offers year round services to support healthy social emotional development of young children by providing consultation, intervention and assistance to parents, and providers of typically developing children age 0-5 who display challenging behaviors.  The program includes community workshops in English or Spanish.  Phone consultations and home based services are also available to parents/caregivers whose children are facing challenges with social/emotional adjustment to school or childcare or displaying other atypical and challenging behaviors.   • Healthy Babies, Healthy Parents- Playgroups are FREE for all parents and their child age 3 and under in Yuba County. Playgroups are held in family's homes and at community locations.  Children play while parents discuss concerns, share ideas, and receive up-to-date information around nutrition and physical fitness. When parents host a playgroup they receive nutrition and physical fitness materials worth $75. Contract through June 2011.  For more information please contact:

  • POW/MIA Spray Park- Will install a spray park playground at POW/MIA Park in the Edgewater subdivision. Contract through December 2009.
  • Recreational Coordinator Pilot Project- is in the early stages of launching a comprehensive recreational program targeted toward families with children aged 0-3 years. This program, when underway, will be available to all County residents at low to no cost and will offer various program including basic motor skill development and beginning aquatics programs.  Below is a list of current programs:

  • Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program (MCAH)- is to develop systems that protect and improve the health of California's women of reproductive age, infants, children, adolescents and their families. The MCAH program in Yuba County offers many informational and safety classes for parents and children in our county. They offer car seat classes, bike helmet workshops, life vest workshops, and diabetes informational classes. This program is funded partially with First Five Yuba funds.   • Miles of Smiles-is a school based oral health education program for Yuba County's school children funded through the Sierra Health foundation Bright SMILES grant and the First Five Yuba Commission. The program emphasizes the prevention of oral disease, increased student awareness and knowledge about their oral health, increased student responsibility for their oral health, and the development of students' lifelong health behaviors. Miles of Smiles recognizes the importance of a mental well-being of individuals. Program components are: Fluoride Supplementation, Plaque Control, and Oral Health Education to children, teachers, and parents. Contract through June 2010. For more information please contact:

Matching State and Local Grants

  • AmeriCorps-is responsible for recruiting, enrolling, training, and supervising four AmeriCorps members. The AmeriCorps members will assist local families with applying for health insurance, accessing routine, preventive medical and dental screenings, accessing a medial home, and applying for oral health intervention. They will also educate caregivers on parenting skills, child development and adult-child interactions, increase children's development skills, recruit community volunteers to assist with community/cultural events, coordinate with school readiness staff and members.
